Alma D. Martinez has worked in the public affairs arena for over twenty five years. She is currently the principal at ADM Consulting, LLC specializing in strategic planning, public relations and government affairs.

A native of Los Angeles, Alma graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1983 with a B.A. in political science. After being awarded the prestigious State Assembly Fellowship, Alma began her career with Supervisor Gloria Molina where she served as her Chief of Staff – first in the State Assembly, followed by Los Angeles City Council, and then the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors. For over two decades she fought for equal access and resources for the community-at-large.

Alma was actively involved in the legendary battle to keep a prison out of East Los Angeles and the successful quest to preserve the LAC-USC Medical Center. During her career in public service she oversaw the creation of child care centers, parks and important social services.

Alma was an appointed Commissioner for the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Decennial Boundary Review Committee in 1991 and 2001 and a member of the 2001 Los Angeles Unified School District Reapportionment Committee.

In 2005, Alma was Visiting Scholar at the David and Lucile Packard Foundation Los Altos, California.

Alma is currently a member of the First 5 LA Commission which is dedicated to improving the lives of California’s young children and their families through a comprehensive system of education, health services, childcare, and other crucial programs.
